The Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati is on the brink of unveiling a new era in healthcare facilities, marking an extraordinary leap forward in medical capabilities. Featured among the upcoming projects are a state-of-the-art cancer block and an innovative cardio neuro centre, both geared to set new benchmarks in treatment quality.
A Vision for the Future
With the completion of the cancer block just months away, SVIMS is poised to add 300 additional beds, augmenting its service capacity significantly. This facility will feature five fully equipped operating theatres and three intensive care units. Relying on a multidimensional approach, it will integrate surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, presenting an all-encompassing cancer care model under one roof. As stated in Deccan Chronicle, the arrival of high-end equipment such as a 4D CT simulator for precision radiotherapy and a pre-Tesla MRI machine marks a formidable enhancement in diagnostic and therapeutic precision.
Consolidating Expertise
The new cardio neuro centre deserving attention is set to streamline and consolidate cardiology, cardiac surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery departments. This integrated setup not only aims to foster collaborative care but will also amplify treatment efficacy for intricate cases through coordinated neuromedical expertise.
Bridging the Past and Future
Dr RV Kumar, SVIMS director and vice chancellor, highlighted the necessity of modernizing infrastructure due to rising patient volumes, averaging 1,400 to 1,500 daily outpatient visits and about 800 inpatients. “Many of our older machines have outlived their efficiency. The new facilities will not just replace them but take us several steps ahead in medical capability,” Dr Kumar noted. Such advancements reflect SVIMS’s commitment to elevating healthcare standards, substituting outdated machines with technologically superior alternatives.
Corporate Contributions in Action
Noteworthy advancement in medical facilities comes in part due to the beneficent efforts of corporations under their social responsibility initiatives. Reliance Industries has generously provided instruments like a new cath lab and three echocardiogram machines. Similarly, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd funded a heart-lung machine, while SBI offered ophthalmic gear. The Indian Oil Corporation made substantial charity, including a Rs 14 crore pre-Tesla MRI machine, further cementing SVIMS’s quest to offer cutting-edge treatment.
Infrastructure Transformations
Alongside medical advancements, infrastructure projects are set in motion by the TTD trust board. This encompasses plans for a central kitchen, a central godown, refurbishment endeavors, and new staff quarters. As these civil works progress, Tamil Nadu is on the threshold of witnessing monumental changes in its healthcare landscape.
SVIMS’s upgrades are strategically designed to ensure affordability so that people from every economic background can access world-class healthcare, eliminating prohibitive costs. As the facility inches closer to the culmination of these projects, the possibilities for medical innovations promise an uplifting future.
