Flourishing in Tech-Driven Meadows

Hanoi is at the forefront of a blooming revolution, embracing hi-tech flower cultivation. This initiative transforms low-yield rice fields into flourishing flower havens, utilizing greenhouses and net houses. Amid these picturesque gardens, advanced techniques are applied with new varieties being planted, ensuring a climate-resilient and eco-friendly growth surge for the future.

Effective Floral Models on the Rise

The city’s Agricultural Extension Centre reveals that Hanoi boasts over 3,000 hectares dedicated to flower growing. With locations in Tay Ho, Me Linh, and more, 47 large-scale zones span over 1,800 hectares, producing high-demand varieties like orchids and chrysanthemums. Many farms have embraced automated irrigation and climate controls, optimizing for productivity and profitability. With values ranging from 18,900 USD to a staggering 56,900 USD per hectare, Hanoi’s floral economy is blossoming.

Blossoms Meet Business and Tourism

Beyond economic gains, these floral fields promise an eco-tourism boost, enhancing visitor experience through natural beauty. Despite hurdles like high initial costs, the city’s commitment to preferential credit policies and technological support aims to foster a holistic growth model linking farming with tourism.

Strategic Flower Farming Advancements

Nguyen Manh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Municipality, highlights upcoming plans to train farmers in greenhouse techniques, focusing on high productivity. The strategy includes encouraging farmers to transition from rice to flower cultivation, particularly along riverbanks, while bolstering disaster readiness. By weaving flower farming with experiential tourism, the initiative aims to uplift local agri-tourism, enhance exports, and reshape the agricultural landscape.

Cultivating Future Blooms

Hanoi’s floral vision goes expansive, involving collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to research adaptive flower varieties, suited to local conditions and preferences. Efforts to build brands, establish planting codes, and map ornamental plants digitally further cement Hanoi’s role in revolutionizing flower farming and protecting the environment.

According to OANANews, these initiatives not only promise to augment product value and create jobs but also foster environmental preservation and elevate the visual charm of Hanoi’s landscapes.
