Trailblazing Thai Beauty Queen Triumphs at Miss World 2025

A Historic Victory for Thailand

In an unprecedented success, Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri, a 21-year-old political science student from Thailand, claimed the coveted title of Miss World 2025. Held in the enchanting environs of Hyderabad, India, the 72nd Miss World pageant saw Chuangsri emerge as Thailand’s first-ever winner, making history on May 31st.

Shining Among Stars

Competing alongside 108 contestants from around the world, Chuangsri dazzled not just with her beauty but with her intellect and vibrant spirit. The crowning ceremony witnessed the passing of the tiara from last year’s winner, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, to Chuangsri, a student of international relations at Thammasat University.

A Testimony to Resilience

Chuangsri’s narrative is one of formidable resilience. Diagnosed with breast cancer at just 16, she chose to become a beacon of hope for others. Her initiative, “Opal for Her,” focuses on supporting women battling breast cancer and is a testament to her dedication to impactful change. As stated in Mothership, her own journey of challenges and triumphs fuels her vision to extend this initiative globally using her new platform as Miss World.

A Pivotal Pageant

The pageant unravelled as layers of selections whittled down a vast field to the final eight contenders. Chuangsri excelled in the Asia & Oceania Multimedia Challenge, cementing her place in the top ranks early on. The competition concluded with Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje taking the first runner-up title and Maja Klajda from Poland finishing as the second runner-up.

Rising from the Ruins

Interestingly, before clinching the Miss World title, Chuangsri faced a setback when the Miss Universe Organization revoked her third runner-up title due to unforeseen contractual conflicts. But rather than being deterred, she seized the opportunity to embark on an even grander stage.

A Symbol of Inspiration

Chuangsri’s victory resonates as a powerful symbol—not only for Thailand but for young women everywhere who aspire to make their voices heard and foster meaningful change. Her first speech as Miss World proclaimed, “This moment is not just a personal victory; it is a shared dream of every young girl who wants to be seen, heard, and to create change.”

Her triumph is a reminder and an inspiration, proving that with determination and vision, one can indeed turn aspirations into reality and foster waves of change across the globe.
