iOS Devices Affected

Specifically, iPhones running any version below iOS 15.1 are on the chopping block. The following models are unable to upgrade past iOS 12.5.7 and will lose WhatsApp functionality:

  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus

Shift in Android Terrain

This shift also extends to Android users. WhatsApp had previously ended support for Android KitKat (version 4.4) on January 1, 2025, impacting a slew of devices that many would have considered obsolete. Samsung and Motorola models, including the Galaxy S3 and Moto G first generation, head this list.
